Latest Updates from Our Project:

Both stretch goals unlocked! Woo-hoo!
over 8 years ago – Fri, Jan 15, 2016 at 07:24:42 AM

Today marks the half way point in our 60 day campaign!

It is a pleasure to announce that we've reached our $200,000 goal in less than 30 days!  We're seriously blown away! Thank you so much! What does that mean for you? Any person that subscribed to a robot kit (with or without the Arduino-compatible board) or any of the three, six, twelve, or workshop subscriptions will receive ultrasonic sensors and speed encoders in their first kit!

So as you're building your robot, you'll be able to enhance it by adding these sensors and make it do fun things like avoid obstacles or measure distance.

What's next? Setting up manufacturing!

Time is flying by and even with 30 days left, we are astounded at the overwhelming support received thus far and are committed to delivering the wifi-robot kit (and future kits) as promised and on time. We're already working with manufacturers and will keep you informed as we progress.

Sharing is Caring!!

It would be greatly appreciated if you could help us share our project through your social media channels. We do acknowledge and reward all the help we get :). You can also stay up to date with sneak peaks and exclusive behind the scenes footage we put on our social media pages. www.thimble.io/share

Sharing Projects We love:

You might be wondering why we mention other Kickstarter projects in our updates. We are firm believers that Crowdfunding is a community based on the passion in helping other projects raise awareness. For this reason we dedicate a section to other projects that have helped us achieve our goals.

FIRST STRETCH GOAL! We're thinking about adding a sensor to the robot kit and we want to hear from you!
over 8 years ago – Thu, Jan 14, 2016 at 02:20:32 PM

We are 277% of our goal and just blown away by your support!

So far, we have raised almost $70,000 from 480 backers!  We cannot thank you enough!  This is incredible and we still have 49 days to go. We continue to be amazed at the extent of generous feedback and support we've received thus far and feel it's only fair to finally INTRODUCE OUR FIRST STRETCH GOAL!

We want to shake things up a bit and add a sensor to the wifi-robot kit.  Before we announce what the sensor is and the amount of funding we need to get there, we'd like to hear from you. Check out the options and share your thoughts. The new sensor and stretch funding goal will be announced this coming week:

We want YOUR feedback on the sensors below:

1)  Ultrasonic range finder: Using this, the robot can avoid collision and drive around similar to a Roomba.

2) Speed encoders for the wheels: With these sensors, the robot can measure and correct the speed of each motor so it drives in a straight line. Additionally, they can be used as encoders to measure distance traveled by the robot.

Which sensor do you want? Ready. Set. Go!

PS - Please continue to share our campaign with anyone you think might be interested. We made it easy for you to do, just follow this link: www.thimble.io/share

PPS - Check out this other cool Kickstarter campaign that we're big fans of:

Thermoco:  Coin size smart thermometer and recorder to measure temperature from your smart phone. (Measure and record room, fridge, cooler, camping tent, body temp, and more) Check them out here; http://kck.st/1SWgdQW

Happy holidays + Stretch goal announcement!
over 8 years ago – Thu, Jan 14, 2016 at 02:20:25 PM

Happy holidays from Thimble!

Dave and I just wanted to take time today to thank everyone for an extraordinary two weeks.  We would not be where we are without your backing and support.  As I write this update, we're at $151k+. It's truly humbling and we're speechless! This is truly the best holiday gift  to a couple of passionate guys trying to make electronics more accessible and fun for kids and adults.

Since we reached our $150k goal today, we wanted to give you a holiday gift as well. For those of you that voted on sensors from last week's update, it is our pleasure to announce that we're including the ultrasonic sensor in everyone's first kit! With this sensor, the robot will be able to avoid collision and drive around similar to a Roomba! Woo-hoo!

Now - for those of you that really wanted the speed encoders (to measure and correct the speed of each motor so the robot drives in a straight line) - we haven't forgotten about you. We're actually really excited about these as well and we'll make them available in your first kit once we reach $200,000! Please help us get there! Continue to share this project with your friends and help us reach our next milestone so we can get these neat sensors in your wifi-robot kit. (www.thimble.io/share)

From the bottom of our hearts, happy holidays, and thank you once again. We appreciate it like you wouldn't imagine.

Best,

Oscar and David
